Shawn Williams (born April 7, 1975 in Bluffton, Indiana) is a second-degree Black Belt ref>http://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighters/shawn-williams</ref> in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Williams was awarded his black belt at 26 years old by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend Renzo Gracie, becoming only the fifth American to receive that honor (behind such notables as Ricardo Almeida, Matt Serra, Nick Serra, and Rodrigo Gracie). After teaching in New York City at Renzo Gracie Academy for several years, Williams opened his own school in Los Angeles, California. Despite its young age, Williams' Academy is widely considered one of the premier schools in the Southern California region.
Williams' grappling achievements include championship status at notable events such as Grapplers' Quest, North American Grappling Games, Pan American Games of BJJ, and achieving 3rd place at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship trials, widely regarded as the most prestigious Grappling Tournament in the world, where he also received "Best Fight of Tournament" accolades.
